摘要:The mechanism of combustion synthesis (CS) for calcium aluminate was analyzed by a combustion front quenching method. The phase compositions of different zones in the quenched sample were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microstructural evolution during the CS process was explored by field-emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer (FESEM-EDS). Moreover, the combustion temperature and wave velocity were measured. The results showed that the combustion reaction started with the decomposition of CaO2 and melting of Al, at the same time, O-2 reacted with Al forming Al2O3, which released a large amount of heat to fuse CaO and Al2O3 forming the liquid. Finally, calcium aluminates with good crystallinity would be gradually precipitated from the CaO-Al2O3 liquid. Furthermore, a model corresponding to the dissolution-precipitation mechanism was proposed.
