摘要：美国翻译理论家奈达在强调功能对等理论的同时,也没有忽视形式对等的重要性。既是翻译,必有损耗,或在内容,或在形式。对于诗歌的翻译,学术界更是争论不休,对于内容和形式并重的诗歌,译者翻译起来到底应该按哪个标准来呢?该文就柳宗元的《江雪》,提供中外翻译家的五篇英文译作,通过对功能对等和形式对等这两个标准的分析来进行赏析。
As a famous American translation theorist, Nida put much emphasis on his theory of functional equivalence, however, he didn't ignore the importance of formal equivalence. Since translation is translation, there is inevitable loss of either content or form. The translation of poetry has always been an endless debatein academia,, because poetry is composed of both content and form. For the translator, which aspect should he pay more attention? This paper provides five versions of the famous short poem Fishing in Snow① written by Liu Zongyuan in Tang Dynasty, and appreciates them by an analysis of both the criteria of functional equivalence and formal equivalence.
